Pelikan Fountain Pens

Germans are known to be very strict with standards and whatever product it is that is attached with their country’s name always means excellence. It is not surprising that this country so well known for its engineering and attention to detail would want less than that in their writing devices.

Enter the Pelikan fountain pen. It is a thing of beauty and a precise instrument of writing. Created by a humble stationery shop in Germany, it has since grown in demand and standards. Yet from the very beginning, even in 1929, it was cutting edge in fountain pen technology.

It had a new technology for filling systems and used a piston-like filler. There was a differential threading devices inside the barrel to fill the barrel from the ink pot with less mess and with convenience.

The Pelikan fountain pen has come a long way since the very first one was introduced in 1929.Through the years, various innovations of the Pelikan came out.

From the mid 1928 Pelikan model 100 pens which had a a piston pump ink-filling mechanism; to the school fountain pen introduced ;in 1960; to the model 400 called Souveran, a classic instrument released in 1982; and on to the first Limited Edition called Blue Ocean brought into the marketplace in 1993, Pelikans have made their mark.

The Pelikan fountain pen holds much allure for individuals who want to use a well-designed quality writing instrument. It may not be the fountain pen brand for those who merely want a status symbol or to hold on to something because it looks nice & distinctive. Pelikans are made for writing, in much the same way boots are made for walking rather than just making a fashion statement.

The craftsmanship that goes into the pen is extraordinary, too. From the nib, or the point where the ink comes out, to the other parts that form the entire assembly, everything is crafted with no less than care and precision.

The nib is the core of the Pelikan fountain pen. It is cut from 14 or 18 karat gold which is later on punched and formed into the traditional quill form. On the very surface of the nib is the crest of the company, ensuring that each pen is really made with the highest quality. Pelikan fountain pens are truly objects of perfection.

Today, there’s a wide collection of Pelikans characterized by depth, breadth and quality that never fails to ignite the interest of the serious pen collector or one perennially in search for a functional everyday fountain pen.
